Single Mom by Choice or Circumstance

Single parents unite! Maybe we're not considered the "norm", but what IS the norm these days? I'm a Choice Mom, or SMBC, and proud of it. I have a twin sister who is a Single Mom by Circumstance and doing great. Here, I'll mostly write about my little family, but hopefully, from time to time, you'll get the Twin View. All are welcome!!

Chinese Tales

...as the stuff of Chaos leaked out into the darkness, the clear and light energy, called the YANG by the Chinese curled upward and formed the beautiful blue sky. ...the heavier, murkier elements called the YIN, sank to form the earth.

This is from "Pan Gu and the Creation" story in the book Ho Yi the Archer: And other Classic Chinese Tales

I will post tidbits from the Chinese books I have from time to time, and I liked this story. It is a different take on the creationism story. Told from the Chinese point of view. (hopefully, I'm doing it justice)

Pan Gu is the ancestor to us all. He was formed in a ball of energy called "Chaos". When he could no longer fit, he broke out, and realized that the sky and the earth were too close together. He *held* them apart for 18,000 years and called the Light, Yang and the Darkness, Yang. The work of supporting the sky was very hard and took its tole on Pan Gu, his breath turned into the floating clouds, and the sound of his sigh became the rolling thunder.

When Pan Gu finally let go of his hold on the earth and sky, he fell to the ground. His body becoming the massive mountains, his blood and body the surging rivers. His sinews and veins turned into roads, skin and muscles the fertile fields. His bones and teeth turned into gold and jewels and precious pearls.

He knew he was dying but wanted to gaze upon his work forever. So he winked and set his left eye into the clear sky where it became the golden sun. He winked again and his right eye turned into the bright silvery moon. Thus, to this day, Pan Gu looks lovingly down upon his greatest creation, the bountiful and beautiful earth.
