Fur friends

I haven't written about the animals in the family for awhile... Maggi will be 4 this November, just like Lil M will be 4 next month. Skippy is likely about a year older-ish than Maggi. Both are well. Maggi has more hair than any dog I've ever seen!! LOL. She's gorgeous, I think, but I don't brush her coat or take care of it nearly like I should. Last week I hosed her down, literally, and have now brushed her two full times... a small office type trash can full of hair!! I think we should collect it and weave it like lambs wool or alpacas. ;-) Ok, or maybe not. She's still a firecracker and barks an inordinate amount, but she's such a sweet dog. Skippy is just as skittish as ever.

Manna, my 17 year old cat has gotten even more rambunctious in her old age... opening the cabinet to root through the trash...and sitting guard in front of the refrigerator and sink... lest one of us opens the fridge, cabinet or the pantry for food...that she can scam. Bless her, she has a thyroid condition and could eat a cow and not gain any weight... funny, Manna eating cow. ;-) Ok, maybe a chicken.

Lil M loves them all, and particularly likes to chase Maggi around. She likes to pet Manna and pick her up (yikes... Manna's pretty frail)... and sit on Skippy or Maggi at will.

I have good animals.

Then there is Eisenswine. He's T's guinea pig. Enough said.

Peace.

I have 2 cats who have opened the kitchen cabinet to get to the trash can. I put in a child-proof latch to keep the out so they can't get into either the trash or the household cleaners I keep there. Let me know if you'd like a latch - I have extras!

So glad to hear that all the four-legged furry ones are doing O.K.

Marissa (a.k.a. Skippy) is no longer hiding, thank goodness. I remember the confusion he experienced from the tension between being his true self and the type of dog society deemed “normal.” A year or so ago we were sipping drinks as we were talking on the phone. I was having a beer, and he was having a non-fat latte with whipped cream and a dash of nutmeg. He told me he was worried about Manna and Maggi finding out. I told him that although Manna was born in a more conservative era, that she was a very progressive cat, and that Maggi had ADD and would forget about the “secret” as soon as she learned of it. It wasn’t enough to relief his anxieties, unfortunately. Then some pictures were posted on doggiecivilunion.com and Manna found out the truth, as did Maggi (for about 10 seconds then she forgot.) Instead of treating the news with shock and disapproval, everybody was so supportive! (Manna, I think, had suspected for a long time now). Then we all got to meet Rusty, Skippy's other half, who is a New York fashion designer whose client list includes Sara Jessica Parker, Tori Spelling, Rene Zellweger, Uma Thurman and Barbra Streisand, to mention just a few. He’s just fabulouth!

Anyway, I just felt like briefly recounting some of the episodes of both grief and joy that got Marissa to where he is today:0)

So how is Eisenhower? Does he behave? I know for a fact that he’s a good little piggy. How might I know? Well, because I’ve never had a bad pork chop. I KID!!! I’m sure he’s just the cutest and most delici- I mean nice - little swine anywhere. Now, remember what I told you once. Little pigs like Eisenhower demand a lot of TLC. You have to feed them regularly and keep their skin moisturized with lime juice, soy sauce, garlic powder, and a dash of salt. And always, ALWAYS keep the oven preheated at 350 degrees in case they get cold;0)

August is mine and Mia’s birthday back-to-back. We rock!

We just got a puppy and it is a VERY new experience for me. I've never had a puppy before, good Lord are they exhausting!

Glad Lil M likes the animals. That's so sweet.
